Well the Giants are just 2 wins away from going back to the World Series for the second time this century and fourth time in their SF history.
They beat the Phillies today 3-0 in game 3 of the NLCS to go up 2 games to 1. It was behind the great pitching of Matt Cain. Cain is what I can only describe as The Rock of the Giants starting staff. He's as solid as it gets when it comes to any starter in Major League baseball. He hasn't had a month all year where his era is over 3.80. You can't get any more consistant than that. Cain had a few shaky moments in the third and fourth innings, but got out un-scathed. After the Giants took the lead in the bottom of the fourth behind an rbi single to left by their new Super Hero, Cody Ross, Cain cruised. He pitched 7 innings giving up no runs on two hits. He struck out 5 Phillies and basically made it look easy.
Tomorrow, the Giants face former A's pitcher Joe Blanton, and counter with young gun Madison Bumgarner. Blanton had a mediocre era this year (4.82) but he has had success against almost all the Giants hitters. Aaron Rowand and Travis Ishikawa have the best success against Blanton, but they probably won't even get an at bat against him. Pat Burrell does have 2 homeruns vs Blanton and Cody Ross (who else) has homered off him. Hopefully those two can jumpstart the offense yet again and the Giants we will be 1 win closer to to the prize by tomorrow evening.
