Outfielder Jose Guillen took an epidural shot in his neck after an MRI exam revealed a "disk issue," manager Bruce Bochy said, adding that he expects Guillen to be ready to play tonight. He better be, facing a good lefty in Ted Lilly.

He threw a third of an inning, hitting a batter and striking out a batter. Giants starters have a majors-best 1.58 ERA in September. In August, their 4.55 ERA was last in the National League.
